As a charity St Wilfrid’s Centre relies heavily on the support and generosity of individuals and organisations, both large and small, to enable it to support over 500 vulnerable adults each year.

There are many ways you can get involved from volunteering at the Centre itself, joining an event or signing up your company as a partner. Your support makes a huge difference and enables the Centre to deliver a unique and caring service for individuals that really need it.

Schools and Groups

We have over 90 volunteers at St Wilfrid’s in the Centre, who deliver around 14,000 hours of voluntary hours each year. Our volunteers represent an annual benefit in kind wage saving of £150,000.

Without volunteers our service would look very different and we would struggle to deliver what we do on our current income.

How to volunteer

WE ARE NOW RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS FOR SPECIFIC ROLES - PLEASE CHECK THE CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES LINK BELOW

The Centre is open Monday to Friday between 10am to 4 pm for clients. During our working day there are a wide variety of roles in which you can get involved, this can be from helping support the Centre itself (such as working in the kitchen or café, greeting clients at the front door, or administration) to being involved directly with our clients on the wide range of weekly activities and groups.

Volunteering at St Wilfrid’s is very rewarding; you can gain invaluable experience supporting clients,  learning new skills,  being part of a team and enjoying your time here with us in our friendly welcoming environment.

Volunteering at St Wilfrid’s may not suit everyone, therefore all applicants are invited to attend an informal interview where you can find out more information about being at volunteer with St Wilfrid’s Centre.

Some voluntary roles will require a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) but this will be explained at your informal interview and training will be provided if required. All volunteers must be aged over 18 years.

Everyone is so friendly and anything I do is fully appreciated. I feel as if what I am doing is worthwhile and is a good use of my time.

Let Us Help You

If you’d like to organise your own event or take part in a challenge event on behalf of St Wilfrid’s Centre, do tell us about your event, so that we know it's happening.  We can help promote your event within our networks and we can provide fundraising materials, from collection tins and t-shirts to leaflets and stickers. And we will try and help support your event in other ways as much as possible.

Business

We rely heavily on the support of the local business community for donations in kind from expertise and consultancy to much needed supplies and of course financial donations.

By working with and supporting us you will be affiliated with a long-established and trusted charity that provides an invaluable service to some of Sheffield’s most vulnerable adults.

How your business can get involved

Support Financially

It costs £450,000 each year to keep St Wilfrid’s Centre running. This is needed to cover core costs: utility bills, food, and insurance, staff salaries, maintaining the building, running costs of the minibus and other basic bills and expenses.

Could your business support us financially with a one- off donation or on-going support?

Sponsor Us

We are always looking for sponsorship. You can get involved with us by sponsoring an event, one of our events or even our minibus.

Donate Supplies

We keep our running costs to a minimum by relying on donations in kind. Do you have any end-of line products or surplus stock that you would like to donate? We are always looking for food items, good quality furniture we can use in the centre, good quality clothing and gardening tools, seeds, compost for our allotment.

If you think we can use it, then get in touch.

Charity Challenges

What better way to get your staff engaged and getting them to work together as a team than by giving them a charity challenge! Whether it's a charity raffle, dress down day, bake-off, or entering the Sheffield 10k why not get your employees to help fundraise for us. We are here to help support any charity events that you want to organise for St Wilfrid’s Centre, so just let us know

Supported Volunteers

It’s well documented that allowing staff to volunteer helps promote a more positive work culture and environment. Why not encourage or allow staff to take ‘time out’ to volunteer at St Wilfrid’s either for a one-off event or on an ongoing basis. Interested? Our Volunteer Co-ordinator can help develop a programme of suitable activities. Contact Bev on bev@stwilfridscentre.org.

Inform and Educate

St Wilfrid’s Centre aims to educate and inform the community about the invaluable work that we do. We work closely with local schools, community groups and churches to hold talks to their pupils, parishioners and members. If you would like to arrange a talk, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

I come to St Wilfrid’s every day in the week. I love it! I feel it’s like my family… I don’t know what I’d do with myself if I didn’t go to St Wilfrid’s. It gives me somewhere to go & I’ve made friends there. It helps my mental health.
