Off the Shelf - 'Our Lives'

A massive well done to all of the St Wilfrid’s clients that took part in all of their many ways at the ‘Writing for Our Lives’ event which took place last night as part of the ‘Off the Shelf’ Literary Festival.

Five clients bravely took to the stage to read aloud and share some of the poems and prose that they had written as part of their Creative Writing Group weekly sessions which was the culmination of a 7 month project in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University.

Led and co-ordinated by volunteer Lauren, a student in Creative Writing herself,  the event took place at Sheffield Hallam University and was supported by guests, clients volunteers and staff and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Some of the poems and stories that were shared will be available to read here shortly! Watch this space.

Just a note to say how much we both enjoyed being in the audience last night. At teatime, feeling the after effects of a morning’s gardening and an afternoon scraping lino tiles from the kitchen floor I would have given my right arm to be curling up with my book by the fire.  But what a treat we would have missed, a fantastic performance by everyone making a really uplifting night. Thank you and very well done to all involved.
