September 28 - Day 136 (135.5) - A Clothes one

Despite me trying to dry my clothes all day yesterday, by the time I got home and we emptied the panniers, they looked like they had just been thrown in a river.

I often think that cycling ought to be more productive - charging a battery or generating some form of power as I pedal. I also have to say with the fuel situation as it is, Iā€™m glad that I do have an alternative form of transport - and might just have to go beyond the 150 days if things continue as they are.

That all got me thinking and, given the strength of the wind cycling home yesterday, I decided that had I rigged up a washing line, everything would have been dried by the time I got home. I do realise there are flaws in this if the wind drops or I get tangled up in a passing lorry but surely they could be overcome by a warning sign. A line of bright washing might just encourage drivers, who seem to have completely forgotten that overtaking close to a cyclist can be very dangerous, to keep a distance. If all that fails, I decided that a rotary drier could be tied to the rack and as long as it was high enough for me to not get tangled up in the washing or too high that I have to avoid low bridges it could all be a load off my mind.

Just airing my thoughts - After all - why else is it called a washing cycle?
